Brett Connolly hails from Fort Lauderdale, FL, and is a grad student at
Emerson College majoring in Broadcast Journalism. This is his second
trip north for education having completed his undergrad at Wake Forest
University.
Connolly's attended sporting events all across the country starting with
season tickets to the Miami Dolphins, ACC basketball games in tobacco
road, MLB, NHL & NBA games, and attended college football games at
venues such as Notre Dame, Tennessee, University of Florida, and the BCS
Orange Bowl. He watched Tiger Woods crowning at the Wachovia
Championship and stood on the fringe at 18 when Zach Johnson won the
Masters. With deaf ears he watched Jimmie Johnson cruise pass the finish
line at the Lowes Motor Speedway (his only Nascar event).
A numbers guru like his idol Billy Beane ("Moneyball"), Connolly's
current project is discovering the credibility of ESPNU's top 150 in
college football recruiting (based on statistical performance in the
NFL). Connolly created an algorithm for standard deviation analysis to
determine results. He's research will be presented at Bristol in June
2010.
